Make an Awesome Impact
It may seem strange at first, but when you say the word “Awesome,” you can’t help but feel awesome! Try it right now. Say “Awesome” and feel how your mouth needs to contort and shift. Who are Coaches ?
A Parent to a child, a manger to their colleagues, teacher to their students and the list goes on, for certain you are a coach to someone in your life, a person who looks up to you for guidance or as a role model. We all are coaches to ourselves, getting beyond the block and heading to the place we would like to be in our lives.
A Willingness to Learn
Coaches share their willingness to learn with their entire team. Encourage all members by:
- Being responsible—take responsibility for your own learning and share information with others. Discuss classes you’ve taken and books that you’ve read.
- Being curious—encourage curiosity. Hold brainstorming sessions where group members share their opinions and thoughts on improving productivity in the workplace.
- Taking the initiative—don’t just stand by, waiting for somebody else to step up and take action. Join clubs and start new hobbies. Be an active learner!
Try the SIMPLE approach
- Identify the approach to which the you will best respond.
- Solicit the action plan.
- Establish confidence that the actions will be completed.
- Set up a reward and penalty system for action and inaction.
- Follow up using simple attitudes such as interest and empathy.

Three Methods for Achieving Simplicity
The Simple approach removes obstacles and facilitates smoother communication and more effective goal setting, which leads to an increased chance of success. Yet, it takes great effort to master the concepts of simplicity. To achieve simplicity, practice these three methods:
- See things with new eyes take a new approach.
- Develop a habit of finding easier ways to do things.
- Take responsibility for your “simple” message. If your message isn’t getting through, ask yourself how you can make it even simpler. Use less words and a diagram or flow chart.

Use the SMART System
The SMART system is a useful template for all awesome impact coaches:
(S)pecific—Be specific in setting your goals and objectives. The more specific you are, the easier it is to develop a clear strategy.
(M)easurable—Set measurable goals that can be easily tracked and compared against desired outcomes.
(A)chievable—Set achievable goals that will enable you to stretch and grow.
(R)elevance—Make sure that the goals are relevant to the employee, or they will not work to reach them.
(T)ime—Establish a time frame to achieve your goals and the team’s goals. |
